Proelium Artifex ("we", "us", "our") is a two-practice studio: a software consultancy (project delivery, solution design, consultancy, AI & automation) and a gaming practice (modding, tools, and world-building for games such as Stellaris). This policy covers proeliumartifex.com and the free tools we publish there, including the Stellaris Mod Builder.

If you email us, message us through GitHub, Discord, Nexus Mods, YouTube, Patreon or Ko-fi, or otherwise contact us, we receive whatever you include in that message — typically your name, email or handle, and message content. Those platforms are operated by third parties and are also subject to their own privacy policies.
We do not run analytics or tracking of any kind unless you accept analytics cookies via the consent banner. If you accept, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage of the site — pages visited, approximate location (city/country level), device and browser type, and referring site. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share data for advertising purposes. See our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies and what each one does.
If you've accepted analytics cookies, the Stellaris Mod Builder (and future tools we publish) also reports a small number of anonymous usage counts through the same Google Analytics connection — for example, that a validation check was run and whether it passed or failed, or that a mod export was completed and how many systems, empires, origins, or events it contained. These are counts only: no system names, empire names, custom text, or any other content you've created is ever included or transmitted. We use this purely to understand whether the tool is being used and where it's falling over, and — in aggregate — to share honest numbers about tool usage publicly (e.g. "X mods exported"). If you reject analytics cookies, none of this is sent.
Beyond the anonymous counts above, the actual content you build — systems, empires, projects, and settings — is saved using your browser's local storage (localStorage) and never included in any usage statistic. That content is not transmitted to us, not uploaded to any server, and we have no access to it, no copy of it, and no way to recover it if you clear your browser data. Exporting or importing a project file is something only you initiate, and those files pass through your own device.
Where GDPR applies, we rely on: consent for analytics cookies (which you can withdraw at any time via "Cookie Settings" in the footer); legitimate interests for responding to enquiries and keeping the site secure and functioning; and contract where we're discussing or delivering consultancy work with you.
We don't sell your information. We share it only with: Google, as our analytics processor, if and only if you've accepted analytics cookies; and the third-party platforms you choose to interact with us through (GitHub, Nexus Mods, YouTube, Patreon, Ko-fi), which operate under their own privacy policies.
Your consent cookie is kept for up to 180 days, after which you'll be asked again. Analytics data, when enabled, is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings (currently up to 14 months) unless we configure otherwise. Correspondence is kept as long as reasonably necessary to handle your enquiry and for our records.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict our processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@proeliumartifex.com. You can change your cookie consent at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer.
Our site and tools are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Where analytics is enabled, Google may process data on servers outside your country of residence, under its own compliance mechanisms.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
